Hearing safety
A pure continuous tone puts all its energy on one frequency, and it feels quieter than it is. Start with the volume low and raise it slowly. Never play a test tone loud through headphones, and take extra care around 2 to 5 kHz, where the ear is most sensitive.
Questions & answers
What is the difference between 432 Hz and 440 Hz?expand_more
About a third of a semitone. 440 Hz is the standard pitch for the A above middle C. Tuning to 432 Hz moves every note down by the same small amount. Switch between the two above and most people hear only a slight drop in pitch.
Is 432 Hz healing or more natural?expand_more
There is no good evidence for it. The claims spread online, but controlled studies have not shown health effects. It is a perfectly fine tuning if you like how it sounds.
Can I tune an instrument to 432 Hz with this?expand_more
You can tune the A string by ear against the 432 Hz tone. For the other notes, use a tuner set to A4 = 432 Hz, or the app, which tunes its keyboard and note names to any A4 from 432 to 444 Hz.
